For Nemo

It had always been that way,
talking in third person, detached,
as if not there.

She’d pick up the pen
before knowing what to write,
unable to discern the feeling
of certain things inside.

Then the trance would come,
full of emptiness that wasn’t hers.
Empty fullness.

Skating, gliding, dancing—
pen on paper,
mind diving.

Ink seeps into the subconscious—
the dream.
Surrounding it part by part,
to master it but careful to let only the essential out.

The pen turned outward,
but revealing what is within,
using only him, her, and them.
There is no me.
